Nationally, we represent Decoding Dyslexia, an awareness movement that has branches in every state in the U.S.
Mission:
We are a grassroots movement driven by Arkansas families concerned with the limited access to educational interventions for dyslexia within our public schools.
We aim to raise dyslexia awareness, empower families to support their children, and inform policy-makers on best practices to identify, remediate, and support students with dyslexia in Arkansas' schools.
Dyslexia:

“Dyslexia is a learning disability that is neurological in origin. It is characterized by difficulties with accurate and/or fluent word recognition and by poor spelling and decoding abilities. These difficulties typically result from a deficit in the phonological component of language that is often unexpected in relation to other cognitive abilities and the provision of effective classroom instruction.”

This definition was adopted by the Board of Directors of the International Dyslexia Association on November 12, 2002. A shorter definition could say “smart kids who struggle to read”.

Effective methods have been known for over seventy years to help dyslexic children learn to read and spell. Children do not outgrow dyslexia, and early intervention is most effective in preventing reading failure.

Grass roots movements are growing, forcing change in legislation to improve literacy in the educational system.
